My 2 cents.
I think you all are missng the fact that some base rock comes from dry land and it's organics are, or should be non-existent. This should mean very little cycle.

Marco comes from the ocean and has tons of dead matter on it. This means huge cycle.

I do not know of a clear terminology to use when separating the two.

Let me clear up that I am not talking bad about the Marco (It's nice stuff if you ever receive it)

Ah ok. See I guess I never thought of that. I believe you are correct about some coming from land. I think I read that somewhere and in fact I believe that TBS gets "land rock" and dumps it in the ocean to in turn seed it to be live rock. Good point there. Maybe that is exactly what we have been missing all along. Thanks for that input.
