Hi all, In my case I have a mixed reef with a huge colny of acro,frogspawn as well as a huge toadstool.To many others to mention both from zoos to sps.My NO is 0 but stiil have great color.I think if you have allot of water volume in your system as well as running carbon and phosphate media along with a good skimmer ,all is good.
I only feed the fish along with cyclopeeze ,no spot feeding ,everyother day. |

nitrate=0 to 1
ph=seady 8.2 salinity=1.026 temp=84, too warm....might be causing issues? alk=12 dkh too high phosphate=0 according to test kits ca=420 mg=1250 My lighting is 2 250 watt MH single ended 10K XM bulbs and 130 watts of T5 actinic. I don't think the problem is PO4 since I run GFO? |

IMO, both SPS and LPS require pristine water.
But LPS will not be happy with strong current flow like SPS. That's the main point.

I do both as well. I feed at least once a day sometimes two times. I only have 7 fish ATM, but plan to add a few more. I skim pretty decent, but it's not like I am dumping cups a day. More like once a week. Very rarely do I target feed any lps....

Should mention that I am getting great growth, but the sps started out at all frags in January of this year except the big acro in the middle.

Any chance to see close-up shots of your corals or link to your tank's thread? Thanks.

Not only do I have reef envy, but I've got lens envy as well... My XTi has a lowly 1.8 50mm prime and I can't get even a halfway good in tank closeup with it... really need a macro lens for anything other than FTSs with my lighting :sigh:

Very nice tank, the thing looks like it's glowing! Your SPS grew fast, geez, my SPS don't grow close to that fast. |

I rarely target feed. Everything in my tank has to fend for itself. SPS, LPS, and everything in between.
