shedding leather

Does anyone know how long a new mushroom leather will usually keep its polyps retracted and shed? I've had it for about a week. Should I try to blow off the shedding skin?

Sometimes they just take time to open up. I've had my sinularia for about a month and it still doesnt open up all the way. Putting it in a little current will blow off the "shed", but the change may just make it stay retracted longer. I'm guessing it bothers you more than it does the leather
