Skimming effectively

Will my skimmer work more effeciently if I clean the collection cup everyday or if it is left alone for a few days?

That depends on what you mean by the collection cup. Parts that are over the threshold where foam begins to fall down into the cup won't matter. Cleaning the throat of the skimmer where there is water and air (or foam) still rising can have a big effect on skimming, but cleaning that part every day will get tedious fast.
