skimmers which one to get
Looking for a skimmer on a limited budget, Like the Aqua C urchin, any other skimmers in that price range worth a darn. must handle 60 gal aquarium with 20 gal sump.

Coralife super skimmer. Mine works awesome on my 55 gallon with 10 gallon sump. It should work for yours as well.

An ASM would be a great skimmer. You'll find them in high quality reef shops and lfs...but they aren't expensive...the superskimmer is a decent skimmer too, but will cost you more for less skimmer.

+1 for octopus, great skimmer, reasonable price, and it does the job (i have the 150 rated for 180 gals and it kicks my friend's coralife SS 220 rated for 220)

oh sorry... it's allready on the top... but i was also wondering the same thing... i'm starting up a 60g reef this week, and i don't feel like making another DIY skimmer like the one on my 90g... so where can i get an octopus or other good skimmer online... all of my high end LFS are uber expensive... i'm not that baller... |

How much maintenance is involved on the needle wheels. I've heard through the grapevine that they need replacing alot?

i have had a needle wheel for years with no problem, i also back flush the pump once a month, you do that by just unplugging it, the pressure in the skimmer pushes the water back through the pump. I like the NW, they pull some junk out thats makes your eyes water up if you spell it.
