questions about transfering to a new tank
Hi i am looking into getting a new tank right now i have a 100gl tank thats been up for about a year and a half. What i would like to know is what is the best way to transfer everything over to the new tank i mean i will take the fish out put them in my QT and the rocks i will put in my brute trash can with salt water from old tank as far as the corals go will it be ok to put them in a rubbermaid container. Also is it ok to use the sand from my old tank or do i really need to buy new sand. I don't have a deep sand bed its about 1 and a half inch deep. I would also like to use as much water from the old tank as i can. The new tank
will be 100gl same size as my old tank. Reason for getting the new tank is my tank right now has way to many scratches on it and i mean big scratches that i am sick of looking at i also got the tank used about 3 years ago it really looks like its been in a war lol |

I would change out the sand bed and buy new argonite--after time it loses its buffering ability and could contain nitrates and phosphates.
If your water is good from the old tank--I would siphon over 50 per cent of it , top it up with new salt water and change the rocks directly over to it(after you replaced the sand bed) You should not get a cycle but to be safe keep the fish in qt for a couple of days
