leather mushroom

Hey guys im fairly new to marines i have cycled my tank etc. I have just bought some things for the tank
Some zoo's and a leather mushroom. But the only thing is the leather is closed up ive had it in the tank for 4 days now the zoo's are fine just the leather not looking happy . Anyone have any ideas water temp 25 degress PH 8.1 salinity 1021 tank is 150ltr running 3x t8's i know t5's are better but have been told t8's should still be ok

the sg is very low, get it up to 1.025-26, also leathers like moderate flow and lighting, wheres it positioned on your reef, what size is your tank, and what wattage are your t8s?you say the tank has cycled, thats great news welcome to the reefing world, however should there be any ammonia at all the shroom wont like it 1 bit

sorry just noticed you said the tank was 150ltr

hey there yeah no ammonia present i have always been told 1021 to 1024 was a good level mind you i have a deep six hydrometer maybe thats not reading right i got freash water tonight and it says its only 1019 even worse than normal our sea water here is surpose to be standard 1028 . my tank is 150 litres wattage is 2x 25watt and 1x actinic blue 20w

hi-christian welcome to reef central nice to have a all black on board, theres no doubt your salinity is seriously low at 1.019, buy a refractometer and slowly get it up to 1.025-26, as for the lighting, well im sure it will do but as you get more corals its likely you will need to upgrade

thanks again michael i think i might have to buy a refractometer lol im enjoying the marine stuff so far some pretty cool stuff you can buy

tbo christian you will have to buy a refractometer, hydrometers are notoriously iffy, you can use them 3 times in a row and get 3 different readings
