chalk bass or black cap basslet

I want to purchase one or the other of these. If you have one, please post what you like or dislike about the fish. I want something that is "out and about" most of the time. The other fish I have are not aggressive. Thanks

Chalk basses would be my choice. They like to be in small groups. I like fish that are peaceful with each other, so I would probably want a small group of these. They are also cheaper, you could get like five of these for the price of one black cap.

No room for five--how about a pair?

Love the blackcap but they are deepwater cave dwellers. They spend 75% of their time in caves just chilling but once they get comfortable they come out more.
Awesome fish but doesn't get along with other basslets or assesors.

Thanks Illuminati, are you saying that in the wild, they spend 75% of their time in caves, or does your fish spend 75% of his time hanging out in a cave? Very nice pics by the way!

A pair of chalk basses would work too. They are very peaceful with eachother.

The black caps do spend quite a bit of time in caves, but they will get better in captivity. They are a lot like royal grammas in that respect.

Not sure of in the wild, the 75% comes from my experiance with them in my tank.

The more peaceful the tankmates the more active they will be.
