Skimmer suggestions - Looking for short skimmer with Tall expectations
I am in the process of setting up a 120 gallon reef tank. The stand is a regular, commercial stand so I do not have a lot of room underneath (around 24 7/8").
I am trying to decide on just the right skimmer, and would greatly appreciate anyone's input and suggestions. So far, I like: ASM G-3 Proteins Skimmer With Sedra 5000 Pump body size: 6.5 inches height 24 footprint: 11x12 Tank size: 250 gal AquaC EV-180 with Mag Drive 7 height: 20" footprint: 5.75 x 9" Tank size: 75-180 gal The size of the AquaC EV-180 is very attractive, but I like the increased capabilities (250 gallons) of the ASM G-3 Your input and suggestions will be very welcome. Thank you, Jeff |

A G3 compared to an MSX200 is like a VW compared to a ferrari.

the G3 would work but the MSX200 would be a better choice. what's your budget?

I will only be using a 20L sump. It says that the MSX200 works best in 8-10" of water. 20L is 12" high. I don't want spillage if power goes out. Will this be workable?

that doesn't give you much room to work with. You could probably go as low as 8" and still be ok so it may still work.
