Sooo....How full is my tank?
Just want to check with the experts! Give me a % of how full you think my tank is livestock wise...
120g Mixed Reef (well, working on it) 4" Yellow Coris Wrasse 2" Pinstriped Melanarus Wrasse (got yesterday, in QT) 2" False Percula Clown 4" Coral Beauty Peppermint Shrimp Blood Shrimp 40 Turbos 10 Nassarius 10 BL Hermit Crabs Torch Coral 6" dia Zoa CocoWorm My guess is that I'm about 50-60% full. Now, I've heard that the corals don't really up the bioload at all, so, I'm basing the % off the fish and inverts..... Equipment: 1600 gph sump return bio balls (I know, I know ) Koralia 3 and 4 Skimmer (generic, rated for 250g tank) Phosban Reactor 48" Corallife canopy (300W MH 10k, 192W Actinic) Parameters PPT- 35 SG 1.025 ph 7.7 light out, 8.0 lights on AMM, Nitrite - 0ppm Nitrate- around 7ppm Phosphate - less than .01 kH - 9 Calcium - 500 Temp - lights out 76, lights on 80 All in all, it seems to be going unbelievably well. Loads of coraline growth, never dealt with any trouble algae. Had a week long bout of dinoflagellates, but those went away with PH buffer and Chemi-pure. Any recommendations? What % full would you think the tank is?? |

Inverts don't count as well. I'd probably say around 50% full for fish.
BTW - Don't forget to take pics of your melanarus wrasse. Their transformation over time is really pretty cool. I almost forgot what mine use to look like until I ran across some old photos online. |

Thanks techigirl78 (1978 bday year as well here!)
Yea, the melanarus wrasse is GORGEOUS!! I usually don't get to my LFS until tuesday nights, and they get cleaned out on the weekends....after about an hour of looking through their tanks last night, I was about ready to leave empty handed (in one of those, gotta buy something moods!) and I spotted the Melanarus Wrasse in a small tank tucked in the corner of the store. Beautiful colors and a fat belly from watching him eat, I had him bagged up....$25! I couldn't believe it...I love everything in the Wrasse family, so beautiful and generally such a bargain!! I will get some pics and watch the color change over the growth of my new little friend! |
