Tape the trim and use a good roller cover.

Yeah i was planning to tape off the tank with a some plastic to keep as much of the VoC's out of the tank as possible.

Tape and trim, you say? Sounds better then my close eyes and randomly paint stuff method of the past

I have read threads where people have had a tank crash after indoor painting. I would try and seal off the tank a bit for sure.

Just don't paint the tank....it'll be hard to see.

Open windows, get as much air circulating out and try your best to seal the tank. Be leary at this time of year, pretty hot out and with covering your tank up too -keep an eye on that temp!

I wouldnt worry too much about it, but I have had skimmers (an AquaC EV120 in particular) that would overflow when I painted. Nothing else in the tank has ever been negatively affected by paint fumes/smells in the house.

I just had to paint all the rooms in our house as well as remodel a bathroom and laundry room as part of the deal with my wife for my 210g upgrade. I have 5 tanks going and was worried about the same thing with paint fumes and all the other chemicals. I just kept fresh air coming in the house and just covered the tanks when I got near them and they all came through fine. If your really worried maybe run carbon or add more while you are painting
