Help! Something is eating

my clam! Really, it's not what you think!

Seriously though, my derassa has been losing color for a month or so. And today I spotted what looked like a hair coming out of it's outty mouth. (I don't know the technical name for it) Anyway on closer inspection it turned out to be a long stringy tentacle of some sort. Does anybody know what is living in my clam? (no pun intended) And or how to get rid of it? The derassa is a beautiful turquois and green when it's healthy and I'd hate for it to die. Can somebody please help?

Got a picture? There are some shrimp that I've seen living inside clams, and there are plenty of pests to be afraid of, but it's hard to say based on your description.

It's such a fine tentacle that it doesn't show up in my pics. It is brown though. I forgot to mention that. Can a clam survive coral dip?

I don't think that's the best approach, and I especially wouldnt do it without reading how it would benefit the clam. Who's pointing you towards a coral dip?

Nobody suggested it to me. It was just an option that I thought of. I'm not trying anything until I find out more. Got any ideas?
