Green Brittle star or close cousin?
I bought a great purple acro today, and while I was trying, unsuccessfully, to attach it to a rock out of the water I noticed several arms moving about. It was a brittle star trying to find his way back to water.
Thought it looks pretty cool, but want to make sure it's "reef safe" before putting it in the tank. From what I read the green brittles have a reputation for eating smaller fishes when the get bigger. 1) is this the fish-eating green brittle, or a near cousin that is ok? The brown bars across the legs make me wonder. He's sitting in a specimen container awaiting a verdict 2) what is the best way to attach an acro to rock? I've tried epoxy putty, super glue, and right now it's just propped up on another piece of rock. |

looks like a common micro brittle star, they are safe and a great part of your cleanup crew
as for attaching the acro, I use a piece of LR rubble, attach the acro with superglue and then epoxy around it. then mout the rubble in the tank. |

Thanks for the super fast response. I look forward to putting him in the tank.
I'll try to give the mounting another shot. |
