Colors seem to be all washed out blue under 20K. Also, do you get shimmer lines from it? Does more surface aggitation increase the amount of shimmer lines? Also, would 2 CoralVue 4" Smart Fans be enough air circulation? Also, the back of my wood canopy is open, so I think that'll help? Also, JR, how much light comes out of your canopy? Could you post a pic? My tank is in are family/TV room and I don't like it when alot of light comes out the back.
Not sure if you are directing any of this question towards me, but I will chime in I have noticed an increase in growth. I run one of these over a 40 breeder. Some of my corals have doubled in size from 6 months ago (when I made the switch from t5's to MH). The colors improved a great deal. I do get shimmer lines, and I am not sure that more surface aggitation increases the shimmer lines, it may but not sure... As for the rest of the question I cannot answer. I will say that I do not have a canopy for my setup and the light spill is pretty minimal

You wouldn't need to run any MH bulb for 12hrs. Corals will only benefit from MH 6hrs. I really don't know how true that statement is but that's what I have read over and over again. That being said, I run my reeflux 12ks for 8 hrs.

Just go to yahoo and type it in and you will get a number of on-line stores. Many carry the bulb. You can even buy them on ebay new.

I don't have any experience with the 400 but have heard they work well. The ballast is the key as stated above.

Thanks for answering my stupid questions
I do understand the need for the proper ballast. The color just seems awesome compared to any other bulb within the 10 to 14 range.

I don't know about it being the same but acropora nut is having some success with the 400's. It's obviously not just the bulbs but the reeflux bulbs surely aren't holding him back.

The 400w 12k is a very good bulb. High PAR and a bit bluer than the 250w.

I am looking at running the Reeflux 12K 250W DE on my Blue Waves in my Maristar fixture.

Will it look similar to all these great Reeflux 12K SE on Coralvue ballast photos?

Thanks!
Joyce
