Fish has ich, how do I remove it without destroying my aquascape?
One of my fish has ich, I know the whole tank is infected but only one fish is showing signs. I just want to remove that one for now and observer the tank for the next weeks or so. My question is, how can I remove it without destroying my aquascape/tank? Thanks.

you may as well just remove all the fish now and treat them all together or you will have this problem later on.

do they come to you during feeding? If yes you could bait them to a net. If not a food trap will work.
I had ich in my 350 last year and had to take everyting out to get all the fish. Just because you dont see ich on all the fish does not mean they all don have it. Remove all of them right away. |

All so dont rush the treatment process, be very patient. otherwise you will have to do it again.

I was thinking that, but right now I only have a 20gal qt tank. Theres no room for all 4 fishes. Like I stated before, I see no signs of ich on the other 3, just one has it kinda bad. I appreciate your feedback. Thanks. I just want to remove one for now and see how that goes.

You can use a small fish hook. I've used that method.
That said, you can pretend all day that your other fish don't have ich, but you're just wasting time/effort and risking your other fishes' lives. Take it from the posters above--all of your fish have ich, and your tank is infected. Nothing you do except getting all out is going to make it different. We've all been there--we want to believe that the other fish won't get it, will pull through, only to be back to square one a month later. Even if some of your fish live/are able to fight off a full blown infection, your tank will always remain infected and any new fish you introduce will be at risk. Bite the bullet. Get another 20g hospital tank. Get all fish out. It may be a pain in the butt, but trust me you'll be happy you did it now. Or . . . you can just get that one fish out . . . and always have ich. |
