That is really cool, I wish I had a second computer to run as a webcam..... I only have my macbook, with a webcam built in. That is cool though.

You could always get an inexpensive used online. If you use a pc just for that, almost any one would work

The stream comes across so smooth unlike most I have seen. What kind of connection do you have?

VERY COOL ............................. until the day you forget the webcam is on and start doing some bare-assed aquarium maintenance.
You may want to also watch for surrounding room reflections in the glass once the aquarium lights go out. You don't want to end up like the guy that listed a silver teapot on eBay and forgot he was naked when he took the picture. SCARY reflections in that teapot! |

DSL with a Logitech 9000 webcam. The webcam makes a giant difference.
I have a cheap one before and the pic was not so great. Just like the stuff for your tank, better to get the good stuff if you can. lol |

Sure is, the lights went out, but NO FEAR, around 8 tomorrow the lights will be back on. Too much light used to give me algae. Now that my phosphate is low, maybe I could leave then on longer. They are on timers, or course. Any ideas for night lights to overshadow the ambient light in the office that I can not turn off!

This really has me interested in doing something like this to monitor my tank.
I have a couple of newbie questions... i assume the camera is wireless... could I then some connct that to my wireless network to view on tvs/desktop computer/laptop computer... and possible connect from outside my network, say at work and see my tank? with out a web side... thanks

I really like the betta. Mine's nowhere near that big yet, but still, I'm surprised yours was out though, I've rarely ever seen any marine betta come out. Mine's especially shy, but I enjoy seeing it from time to time.

The webcam is not wireless. It is just a regular webcam attached to the USB port and mounted on the desk near the tank. The Logitech 9000 one has auto focus and lots of great features. It even has pan and tilt.
You can watch your tank from anywhere there is a computer by having a free justin.tv account. All you too is create the account and it will find your webcam and you click start broadcasting. Easy as 1,2,3. I have had my betta for about 3 years. He was very shy at first when I had a big blue tang that bothered him. Blue tang gone, betta happy! |

So since nobody is gonna go in and see the fish today... make sure you stop by the site and say hi.. They feel so neglected otherwise.
http://www.justin.tv/fishdoc And yes you could do all that you mentioned Chris! |

Oh yeah, my upper lip has stitches in it so I won't tear any flesh, and the painkillers only add to it. Now I kinda know how Joan Rivers feels
