Harlequin Shrimp

Are they hard to acclimate?

They are just like any other shrimp as far as I know but they require a diet of starfish so it can be quite pricey.

Acclimate as you would any other shrimp. They are not exceptionally difficult except for their dietary needs as stated above.

wow... what a cool picture! What camera did you use to take that?

These are cool shrimp but with the limited starfish here I wouldn't be able to get one...

'plain to me, do you cut an arm off the starfish to regenerate or how do you get them rotating?? I have no plans for either this shrimp or starfish, because I don't have a clue but I would love to one day do so...

you can feed them arms by cutting them off or just switch them once a week or so

Should it take longer than an hour to acclimate?

Also feeding live starfish to your Harlequin became rather gruesome after a while for me and I returned it to the LFS .Live and learn.

I acclimted mine for 2.5hrs.

If you cut off a linkia arm, they will grow it back in about 2-3weeks. My 2 harequins got a chocolate starfish to eat last week and he 2 arms left. Before that they had a whole linkia starfish in 8 days. They are ravenous!

They eat then in thee wild all the time so it their nature to eat them. In the wild it doesn't cost you $5-$30 each time they eat though!

I'd say my 2 Harelquins eat at least $100 of starfish a year.
