Temperature control.
I was at a LFS talking to someone earlier today about keeping the temp down in my tank. He recommended to freeze some RO/DI water, place it in a ziploc baggie then put it in the sump. Has anyone tried this? If so how did it work?
Any info would be great. Thanks, Keith |

for an emergency, I'd give it a whirl, but as a matter of perpetual temperature control there are much better solutions. how much of a temp drop are you looking for?

crvz,
Right now my tank is about 85 degrees. I was hoping to get it down to the low 80's. Would the ice be too much of a shock to the coral & fish? |

Fans are very effective. Put one over the display blowing across the top of the water and one over the sump the same way. My 90g dropped 3 degrees with just 2 4" computer fans in the canopy...

Ditto on the fans, but do expect more evaporation.
