Pump Cavitation?

I hooked up a mag 18 which is fed from 1 single one inch bulkhead with a downturned elbow. It is sucking air into the pump but I see no vortec in the overflow box. I assumed that it was at the bulkhead so I tightened it a little and then put silicone around the extemities still no effect.

I can throttle it back but then the skimmer is out of gas.

Ideas?

OK think I found it. The threaded part of the bulkhead had a pinhole in it causing it to suck air. Anyone had this problem before. I just gooped some silicone on the outside of it.

Problem solved I hope.
