Help!!! Elec. Problem

My mag 12 pump in my sump is shocking me when I put my hand in the water. What can I do? Can I put silicone arond the wire coming out of the pump? Any suggestions. PLEASE Thanks

Get rid of it. Sounds like a bad ground.

Also invest in a grounding probe and a GFCI on the pumps and heaters

Check the cord and see if its possibly frayed. I would just ditch it if you are getting shocked from it as the cords really cant be safely replaced and still be submerged.
A grounding probe would be a good thing to add also

pump should have a born on date on the tag...if its less than 3yrs old u should be able to warrantee it ...
grounding probes are nice but your just masking the symptoms of a potential fire hazard
make sure ALL pumps are plugged into a GFCI outlet..

Grounding probes are a big benefit when it comes to small trace amounts of current in the water also. HLLE is a big problem that can be helped/avoided with ground probe...
I agree that they can also mask other issues also though but benefits are just as good in my opinion.
Anything that comes in contact with the water and the possibility of you at the same time would benefit from a GFCI circuit...
