Found a new Hitchhiker in my fuge
Until now, I was sure the only hitchhikers (other than the normal ones; pods, stars, worms) that I got in my tank were forms of Algae. I finally found a cool hitchhiker, but it's in my AC110 fuge.
Do you guys think I should clean up the rock and move it to my display? Or is there some way to move this guy off that rock (I'm assuming splitting the rock is the only option). Or should I just wait for it to spread on it's own. |

Let it be in the fuge for a while: it's delicate. It could be a coco worm, and something might eat it. I'd suggest feeding phytoplankton to it and seeing how it grows. If you can get it a little larger and stable it might stand a change in the tank.

I have a lot of those in my sump as well, but they don't like light. They're filter feeders that disappear when the light over that area turns on. I'd leave it were it is.

I thought they were barnacles. I have quite a few, and my lfs said they are barnacles.

coco worms sell for 40-60 dollars at some places. I'd hold on to it, let it grow. Possibly resell

It's a coco worm (also known as a feather duster). Be prepared, it can grow up to 8-9 inches if the parameters are ideal. Supplement calcium, watch your alkalinity, and they will die if there's copper introduced into the tank. I would get some Marine Snow, or other phyto as well, otherwise it will not survive long. Good Luck!
