how can I get this piece of bubble coral to attach to a rock?

Alright I have just a piece of the jelly bubble coral that I am trying to get to attach to a rock.

It is in good shape and growing back, but keeps getting blown off of the rock I am placing it on to try and attach it.

Any ideas on what to do?

It is all jelly, there is no hard base to this piece at all.

epoxy stick. marineland holdfast. make a ball. put some superglue gel on one side, stick it to the coral, put some gel on the other side, stick it to the rock. done.

but it is all just a jelly ball, there isnt anything to put the super glue on without affecting the animal.

Wont that hurt it?

your talking about super glueing under water putty?

the polyps should recede and expose the calcareous skeleton underneath. I've only seen the polyps by themselves when they are bailing out and that is not a good sign.

doesn't sound like you have a bubble coral. where did you get it from?

no it is a buble coral, the polyp has fallen off of the skeleton for one reason or another when it was in my buddies tank.

it is now in mine and doing great, inflating like crazy every day.

Now i just need to get it attached to something so it can have a ncie base to start to regrow with.

It will have to settle on its own, you can try to use bridal netting with it in a cup with a piece of rock at the bottom.

When the polyp bails out like that it means it's usually out the door.

When it inflats it means nothing more than to ballast its self and drift to find a new spot, not because it likes to do it.

yeah it was doing bad, but its doing good now.

bubble corals seem pretty hardy and able to regenerate. I'm not too worried about it other than getting it to attach.

Guess its just a waiting game.
