I think I am going to get rid of the urchin and the shrimp just in case. I have an ORA peppermint shrimp in another tank that I would like to eat some pesky anemones in my 75. The urchin does not do any good for me either way.

OK, the shrimp and urchin are gone. Someone suggested to me that I don't feed my fish enough. I thought that the tang and the rabbitfish were vegetarians and that they were able to live off of the algae in the tank. They do seem to enjoy the pellets I feed my clownfish. I only feed 1-2 times per week is this too little?

I have two 1 and 1/4" overflows. Checked them and the sump thoroughly even taking the skimmer out.

No anemones except the small pesky kind. A mixed coral reef tank with two clowns and some snails and hermits.

Do you have any star's. Some will eat large fish. And i'd suggest feeding more than once to twice a week. Thats not much.

No starfish. I have already started feeding more. I also started feeding pest anemones Joe's Juice.

That's your problem! I didn't realize this thread was old and was going to post that you probably have a crab.

looks like you're going to have to start trapping, i managed to find a crazy red crab in my tank the other night and had to remove an entire piece of liverock from my pile to get it out

then i fed it to my octopus

Are there commercial traps available? Like one for a mantis shrimp?

I still don't think it's likely that he caught a healthy tang. Especially since you said he was stuck to a powerhead a few days before he went missing. I think your fish died and your clean up crew took care of the rest.

I agree I don't think he killed the fish per se but I am sure that he had a large part in the cleanup

take a two liter bottle, empty and clean it out well, cut it right at the top of the label all the way around, cut an inch or so from the top of the bottle off too so you can turn that section upside down and make a funnel out of it that leads into the bottle

put some sand in the bottom to weight it down, toss a piece of shrimp or something in the bottom, lean it up against the rock that you found the molt on and wait

I will try the trap.

BTW the crab is about 3" across. I don't know much about them, so he may be part of the clean up crew. All I know is that I have have several fish and shrimp disappear.

that is sure not part of the CUC, it's got black tipped claws and is three inches, it's bad, and should either go into your sump, or under a hammer if you don't have something that'll eat it like I do

If you were closer I would have you bring your octopus over
