Sure flow or Eco Maxi jet mod.
Just picked up a Maxi 1200, i plan to get a mod for it. But certain sites seem to have different info about the sure flow and Eco mod's.
Eco mod- one site says its only for Maxi 400 and 600 and claims 10X more flow but doesnt say how much. Sure flow- One site says get a maximum of 1600 GPH where another site says black propeller 1600 GPH and white propeller 2000 GPH. I also have read in the forums that sure flow propeller's used to be made out of very cheap plastic, but now has a very hard durable plastic. Does anyone know which sites have the more durable sure flow mods? Thank you 9er |

I have 3 of the Sure Flows ( 1600 gph ), have had them since Xmas, and have had zero issues with them. I even run them on the wavemaker part of my ReefKeeper 1. I got them from Premium Aquatics.

I have four of the 2100 gph sure flow mods on my180. 3 work great, one likes to spin backwards. Can't say it's the mod or the pump itself though

So Tod your useing thte black propeller.
and cnaegler your useing the white. The kit has the option for both right. And let me get this right. stock Maxi 1200 (liters) = 295 gph Mod just 2000 or 1600 GPH not Liters per hour right.

Yes, I am using the black propeller.
And you are correct, stock MJ1200 = 295 gph, black sure flow = 1600 gph.

I had the eco mod and broke 2 props on a wavemaker. Now I have 2 sure flow mods and no problems whatsoever. The white prop is too much so I use the black one.

I have the sure flow with the small prop on a maxijet 400 (1400gph) in my 30g. I have to help it restart almost everytime so its no good for a wavemaker but once started it runs flawless. I tried the big prop with a maxijet 1200 (2100gph) and it restarted fine everytime but was too powerful for a 30g with sand. tried the small prop on a maxijet 1200 and it was quite noisy.

I have used the sure flow on two aquariums with a 600 and a 900. Both had the metal shaft snap after about 6 months. I would also warn with unplugging them. I sometimes have to sit and plug and unplug them for 5 minutes before they start to work without making a ton of noise.

Using these on wavemakers that turn pumps off then back on is too harsh and drastically reduces the life of them. You need to use wavemakers that slow the pumps down then speed them back up like the Seio controller.
