I've got an AquaSilencer on my LifeReef overflow box, and it does a good job. I don't know anything about the hofer gurgle buster.

I have no idea what the aquasilencer is, but I will google it to check it out.

I use a gurglebuster and I love it. Whisper quiet in my HOB overflow. Takes a while to adjust and find the sweet spot and equilibrium with flowrate vs silence, but once it's set... it's golden.

I just made myself a gurgle buster. Havent tried it out yet. Will find out this weekend when the grand opening of my tank happens. Heard it works well and the idea behind it seems like it works.
