H&S or other skimmer recommendation

Hello,
presently I have a 125g tank with a 40g sump which is sps dominated. I am running a Deltec APF600 skimmer.

Just ordered my new tank, a 250g starphire from Concept Aquariums. I will be keeping the 40g sump.

Questions. I was looking at either the H&S A200-1260 or the A200-2xF2001 skimmers. These are rated at 300g and 325g respectively. Are these numbers conservative like Deltec's numbers or do I need to be looking at a larger skimmer? Any recommendations between these skimmers for my application? Looking for input from H&S owners.

Any other recommendations from anyone? The footprint must be no larger than 11" W x 16" L, height is open.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Scott

I would not call either of them conservative numbers. Just the opposite. Of the two, I would get the A200-1260. I'd take the single Eheim pump any day over 2 x Aquabee. I think either are on the small side for that size system.

My buddy runs an A200-1260 on his 250g and it pulls out an amazing amount of black gunk.
With that said, however, my next skimmer will be one with a bubble plate.

EHEIM OVER AQUABEES

aquabees you have to clean about every 3 months because of the flap inside of them that starts to stick

skimmer

I just got the H&S with the 2 aquabees and i happy with it. The flaps on the aquabees do need to be cleaned frequently as i already cleaned mine within two months of operation. If you have any other questions feel free to email me. As for the eheims, they are great pumps too. preference really.

What model are you running? I am aware of the maintenance with the aquabees as that is what is on my Deltec APF600. It looks like we both will have about the same total volume of water--around 300g.

Thanks Scott

skimmer

I have the exact model your speaking of, its the A200x2F2001. Love it! Its a beast! I guess everyone on this thread is dead set against the aquabees. I think as you probably know since you run this pump they are high quality. As far as the system total gallons I think you would be fine with either as H&S are not out of line with there numbers as many other skimmers. I dont know what the guy is talking about saying it would be to small. You would be fine with tons of sps and fish. If you like I can show you some pics of the skimmer after a few hrs of skimming after a cleaning. Thats the proof!
