Help, bulkhead leaking!!
Just started my new 90 gal tank and the bulkhead that goes to the externally plummbed skimmer is leaking. Does the rubber washer go on the inside of the sump where the water is? Cause that is the way I have it and it is leaking. The hole is the right size but it looks like the washer may be a bit too big. Any suggestions? thanks

That happened to me when I set my tank up and I tried silicon to seal it and nothing. I ended up buying new bulkheads and then it worked perfectly. The washer does go on the inside. Try tightening it or putting it on again.

Yeah I tightened it as much as possible. I dont want to crack the acrylic. It is a heavy duty schedule 80 bulkhead too. Not cheap.

The rubber gasket goes on the flange side of the bulkhead, not the nut side.

It goes on the side of the bulkead that you dont screw on so the nut shouldnt touch the washer.

It is easy to over tighten the bulkhead , start with it only hand tight fill with water then IF IT LEAKS gently tighten a little more.Over tighteing will cause leaks

Another thing to double check is to clean the part that is attached to the rubber o ring. i had some small sand in there that was causing it not to have a tight seal and made it leak. good luck
