tank cover
I have tried my best out of making a tank cover out of bird netting. I used these cable covers, and bent it in place, but it just doesn't fit, it pops right off when I put it on the tank.
I do not want to use eggcrate, I don't want a parking lot in my room. If anyone here, has a clue on how to make a frame to put bird netting on it like you would a screen - on a bowfront tank - please, help me out! -Max |

What about weaving a piece of acrylic tubing through the curved section then the normal method of aluminum window framing for the straight sides?

arent there flexible pieces of wood you could buy? they actually can bend a bit (probably enough to curve for a bow front)
you could build a frame out of wood and staple the netting to it you would just need that soft bendy wood

Capn, that's exactly what I tried to do, but no one has done it with a bowfront.
That sounds good ektor. And the wood, I searched, home depot workers were no help. |

On the acrylic rod / tube. Maybe you could weave all edges to make it work. If you do use acrylic for all sides, you may have to fabric the corners with acrylic braces once weaved. This way the netting will be tight and not slip. Just thinking out of the box / tank.
I'm redoing mine tonight but have a rectangle tank so the curve is not an issue for me. Will be using the aluminum window frame and design from the parent thread on the subject. My first attempt did not include a double layer of the netting so the holes are too large at 1/2". Going to go back and do the double layer with the second layer diagonal or cross hatched. |
