I need help picking a tank

I need help picking a tank. I have 36" of room. I know 30 gallon is 36", and a 40 breeder and a 45 are also 36" (aqueon aquariums). Which tank has the best value? What I mean is, is it worth it to go from 30 gallons to 40 gallons considering how much more all the equipment will cost? Which tank would you choose? Thanks

I say 45 gallons,, the bigger the better, and if u new to this hobby, I suggest u get the bigest tank that can fit in ur room , and u can afford it... this hobby is expensive... if u want corals, it would be much more expensive... and live rock 2...

Go reef-ready if you possibly can, with a sump.
A corner bowfront can sometimes, by depth, get a bit more gallonage into a limited space, up to 72 g, for example, with only 2" change in our 54g corner bow footprint. But the bowfronts are more expensive, and a bit of a pita if you have a fish in the center-back overflow. NEVER mount one flush with the wall!

Well the 40 gallon breeder is 36" x 18" x 16"
The 45 is 36" x 12" x 24"
The breeder is wider, and the 45 is taller... Which is better in terms of keeping more fish?

i think the 40 breeder is better personally, but you might think of going to the 60 gal 36x18x24... thats the one i would go with...

The wider the tank (front to back), the generally easier it will be to aquascape. Both will have significant limitations in terms of keeping large numbers of fish. If you're choosing between those two, go for the bigger, a 10g difference will be negligible in overall equipment cost. I would recommend a 58g, 65g or 70g (all 36"), all of which I was looking at before I decided to go up to 48". I believe oceanic makes all of those sizes in reef ready versions.

Just checked. AGA/Aqueon 65g Megaflow is 36" x 18" x 24". That's the footprint of a 40g breeder, with the full 24" height.

Depends what you're putting in it. I'm a big fan of 40br, but it + accessories may be hard to find. Standard 45 isn't going to hold anymore fish than a standard 30.
