tail rot in clowns

My tank is now 5/6 mos old, waited patiently for all parameters to get to where they need to be before I added anything.
Right now params are
Ammonia 0
Trites 0
Trates practically 0

I QTd them and both are coming down with tail rot. I am treating with Melafix. My question is, is this something that came from the LFS they came from or something I did that caused it? It showed up within days of bringing them home.

also what is the best food to feed them and what's the best thing to soak it in while they are being treated? Neither is eating so well since I brought them home.
