HELP i.d. crab? new base rock..pics

just got two small peices of base rock today...and some kind of crab i think? hitched a ride on one of the peices

anybody have a clue as to what kind it could be?

kel2682..thanks for atleast saying your not sure what kind it is..yes im worried about it too..but the tank has only been up for 4 days and the lil peices of rock is all thats in it..so i got time to figure out if its reef safe or not

thank you klaytos and vacaville...well thats the only thing in my tank at the moment as its only been up 4 days..guess ill tray and catch it before i add anything else :-(

I wouldn't say Mithrax are "definately" bad. Lots of people on here have them in their reefs and FO set-ups with no problems at all. They are more.. "potentially" bad and even "possibly" good. I, personally, would wait to remove it and see how it plays out. They are very cool to watch, add diversity, and eat a ton of algae when you start getting it. Just my opinion mind you. If you don't want to risk it, see if your LFS wants them maybe for credit? They sell for like $5-$8 each in my area.

Research Emerald Mithrax Crabs before deciding, this is practically the same. Sometimes called a ruby crab

I think it might be a red mithrix, I had 3 small green emerald crabs and over time this one grew fastest and as he got bigger his color changed to red, I havent noticed him picking at any of my sps he just cleans my rocks and loves bubble algea, Than again i might just be a lucky one.
