Refugium Cleaning

I have a 180 gallon reef with a 200 gallon refugium. The refugium houses chaeto and plenty of green and red algea. I usually remove all the green and red algea. Should i be removing this or should i leave my refugium alone? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

I would leave it alown as far as removing algeas to clean it but you do have to remove some algea macro to actually remove the nutiants from the tank trim the macro is what I am saying.

Periodically trim back the macroalgae. That is one reason to have a refugium. By removing some of the macro, you will be exporting some of the nutrients - the macro will grow more, sucking up nitrates and phosphates. Other than that, try not to disturb your fuge too much.

I agree. Its important to remove some of the macro algae. Also, make sure you dont have any dead spots like I do.
