That's too much flow for GFO media IMO.
Here's what your media in the reactor should look like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVbw1yCGTbg

Don't know if the video showed a pump or not ( was loading slowly for me, and I am not Jobe )
I have 4 of them, and each are running on a MJ400, and even then it is dialed down a bit. (( 2 of them are daisy-chained together, phosban and carbon ))

You do not want to use Phosguard. It is an aluminum based media not a ferric oxide, iron based media. The difference is aluminum based medias release the trapped phosphates when they have reached their limit and iron based media like Phosban and others cling to it so it can be removed. I would get rid of the Phosguard ASAP.
With GFO or GFH, iron based medias the maximum fill recommended is 150 grams and thats only after running about half that for the first fill or two to acclimate the tank to the media. I also use the MJ400s for my reactors. |
