Yellow Tang

My yellow tang is acting different than normal. He is swimming real fast back and forth in a distance of about a foot. When he stops suddenly he wiggles and faces upward. he is doing all this near the bottom close to the front glass. He has no spots on him and his eyes are clear. The only thing that I did today was add an electric blue hermit. Also the tank is a 55 g and it has been up since feb. Do I have anything to worry about?

Mine did the same thing and is now being treated for flukes..you are the 3rd person i have seen that had this same experience with a yellow tang.I am treating in qt with prazipro. My yt had a small bump on his side which is now a exit wound which is getting better each day where the flukes left.Yours could have them in his gills.

Prazipro can be used in your display tank but it will kill any worms..ie feather dusters, bristle worms etc.You would also have to turn off your skimmer and if you have a heavy bio load this could cause you problem.

My yellow tang is acting fine since the lights have gone off. With flukes to they calm down when the lights are off? Do they still show any symptoms when lights are out? My actinic lights went out about a month ago due to a bad balast. I just got the balast in this week and replaced it today. Would that cause him to act weird.
