Skimmer 24/7
Do you run your skimmer 24/7. LFS told me that you can turn it off a night.

You want it on at night, to lower the impact of CO2 on pH as much as possible. I run mine 24/7 but I don't really think I need it on that much.

Most skimmate production seems to happen at nite.
With an internal pump, its bound to have an impacy on water temp., so I just run mine opposite my lites. This does help to even out pH fluctuations from "day to nite". |

24/7 to pull out as much stuff as possible the fish are always making waste. i would be interested to see if those with SPS ever turn them off for some time. I would think not though

I ran mine for a portion of each day for a while. I had it turn off between 5pm and 11PM on weekdays and longer on weekends. I loved how quiet the tank was during that time I was home, but the pump has not liked the start/stop. It's starting to get noisier, and is periodically having rough starts.

Another for 24/7 . . . and I throw in the suggestion that you be skeptical of advice coming from this particular LFS.

Even if it doesnt produce skimmate 24/7, it still helps a ton with dissolved oxygen. I let mine run alll the time.

I run mine 24/7 but turn it off every 3 days when I feed some of my corals at night. I also turn off the return pump and just let the Koralias and powerhead gently move the food around. After about 3 hours I start the return pump this also allows me time to clean the collection cup of my skimmer, and then following morning I will restart my protein skimmer.
