ID please

Cant get a pic but..I have a rock with xenia on it. At night there will be 3 or 4 things coming out that look like a serpent star leg at first ,then they strech out about 4 inches and swing around. They dont appear to be coming frmn any paticular opening in the rock. i assume they are some kind of sweeper but would like to know from what?

I know its not brittle stars. It looks like that at first but when it streches out the thing gets as thin as a hair. Plus they are not attched to each other.

They do have their territories, the big ones anyway. I've got one huge worm on each end of the tank, lots of littles ontheir smaller rocks.
