Is this coraline or something else?

Hey, I've been getting a bit of green algae growing on my base rock. I'm wondering if it's coraline or something else.

Also, not sure if it matters but the pieces of live rock that I have are purple and red, none have any green on them.

Can't really tell by that picture but it looks like green coraline algae. I also have green and purple coraline algae on the same rock.

I'll try to ignore that ignorant remark.

The tank is coming up on a month and a half, the algea started growing on there about 2-3 weeks ago. But that's a guess.

Corps - that is bit to young to have coralline. I think it just regular algae.

that does not look like corraline. Usually I have seen it a shade of pink.

I had green algae in my tank (and still do) due to the different stages of the algae cycle. That rock looks really new, how long has the tank been running?

Like I said the tank has been going for about 1.5 months. It's probably just regular algae. Nitrates are still sitting around 15-20.

Edit: I think I'm going to take the media out of my Penguin 350 and turn it into a little chaeto fuge.

it's just the typical green algae... what do you have for a CUC? they should be able to manage the algae pretty well. The tank is still running through the stages...

I've got about 8 snails and 3 hermits. I haven't seen ANY of the hermits in a while. The snails are usually up on the glass, only 2-3 will stay on the LR and graze. None of them really ever go to the base rock w/algae.

Sometimes I'll pull them off the glass and place them on some rock, but by the time I see them again they've moved.

It's weird really.

what kind of snails? each different type like to eat different stuff. I have had really good luck with Turbos for algae cleaning on rocks and glass... The Ceriths don't seem to do much. The astreas have disappeared...

I bought them from the LFS as 'snails', I want to say they are turbo snails but really I don't know. I'll go take a picture and post it in a second.

I don't yet have lights for coral, so right now it's just FOWLR so I'm not too worried about the calcium.

Should be getting a T5 set in a week or two when I get paid.

Tthnow, don't you think the regular salt mix has enough of everything, especially since there is no bioload to speak of? I've never dosed and have a very nice, thriving tank.

How many years your tank been running? some don't dose because of the maturity of the tank. The fastest coralline growth I seen is in 1 month, small amount of it but it started growing. I had a reactor.

Cal promotes coralline very quickly. I had purple growing on my nano before the crash, I was doing well till then. The LR already had some purple which help kicks start it.

fiji thats a funny pic!! look at the next bottle of fiji you see in the store.. it shows on the back tds at like 250 ppm..thats worst then my tap water... its funny to me people spend good $$$ on that stuff...lol
