tips for getting my 75g back in shape
I have been neglecting my 75g for the past months or so because school has become very busy, and now I am ready to get it back into shape. I was wondering what tips you might have for getting everything ready for some more corals and fish?
overall info- its been set up 6 months and has 8 T5 bulbs (50/50 daylight/ actinic, but 2 of the daylight dont turn on, so it is more like 40/60). I have a mix of fancy mushrooms, photosynthetic gorgs, SPS, LPS and zoas in there as well as some palys. for fish I have a yellow wrasse, a LM blenny (Fugly), a pair of percs, a pair of firefish and a YWG (Goby). the lack of water changes over the last few months have made algae grow fast and in large amounts, but the blenny is keeping it at bay, though I would imagine that my nutrient levels are through the roof. I am using RO water I make myself, and a mix of red sea and tropic marine salts. to get everything back under control, I am planning to do this- 15g water changes every 3 days for the next few weeks and after that 15g water changes weekly from then on pull out as much algae as possible start feeding 1/2 cube of mysis daily (been feeding 1-2 cubes whenever I remember for the last few months) clean out my sump/ fuge and get a better light setup for it any other suggestions of what I can do for the tank? I want the algae gone and the SPS that have been bleaching back to full color. ALSO- would it be okay to move rocks around now? I am tired of the rock wall I have in the tank now.... thanks for any help! |
