Nylon Filter Bag...?

I was looking at hooking some sort of filter bags to the drain pipes into the sump to get the big chunks of waste out of the tank.

How should I do it? I know they have different micron bags and all

Hi, When you decide which bag you want, slip it over the pipe pull it tight around the circumference of the pipe and use a small plastic clamp to hold the material tight. This way you won't have to worry about trying to tie off the string on the bag and having it slide down the pipe. I leave some of the bag loose on the drain end so it doesn't clog up and restrict the flow. It is easy to change this way. Make sure if the clamp has any metal on it it doesn't come into contact with the water.

I have been going the local fabric store and purchasing felt. It is around $6 for yard. Then I bust out the sewing machine and make what in need. You can get about 10-15 made out of a yard of fabric. I also sew in some draw strings. They work great. Cheap and easy.

Buy these bags (attached link)

Set up your drain pipe so you have an elbow at the end pointing down towards your sump and hang this bag from the pipe so the water falls into it from the elbow. These bags already come with a line to hang and stay open at the top due to a hard nylon circle holding them. I started using them about a year ago and they work better than anything else. You can rinse and re-use the bags about 3-5 times.
