Coralife salt mix ok to use?
I was at Petco today picking up some flea stuff for my dog when I noticed they had 50lb bucket of Coralife salt mix for $19.99. I wasn't going to use this brand but I bought 3 buckets. Is it ok to use? I am just now switching from NSW to mixing my own. Could I switch to something else later on?

i used to use coralife and had no problems with it...but after switching the direction of my tank to sps i decided to go with a brand that was well trusted in sps, reef crystals.

If I use the 2 buckets I have but change later on will there be an ill effect on my tank? Or could I just switch over?
Thanks for the help! |

Sounds like a good deal, I would use it. You can run tests on some of the fresh mix and see how it measures up. If it is lacking anything (Calcium, Mag, Alk) you could use an additive and bump it up, and still have a good deal. Heres another post where they have compared different salt mixes, and gives some good advice on what to look for.

You would be fine to switch salts from one kind to another.
