SAY-WHAT?????Acromyn ID
I have been reading thread after thread on reef central...trying to be a responsible reefer and not jehpordize the lives of my wet-pets unnecassarily. I have gathered a wealth of information from this sight and many of its contributors like Melev, Capn_hylinur, and Waterkeeper...just to name a few. There is one bit of Information I have not found...
AID=Acronym IDentification I have muttered through countless threads and found answers to many questions but I wonder if there is a thread that can ID some of the most common acronyms or maybe some of the more experienced reefers can post some of what they use, here on this thread and through the magic of CAP(Cut-And-Paste) I can create my own database. This one took me forever to figure out...GFO= granular ferrous oxide, now I can find out what it does. CUC=clean up crew-seems obvious now- but at one time it led to an awkward moment at the LFS(local fish store) when someone told me to add CUC to my tank...not really but it could happen... Tell me more acromyms you have seen in the pages of the forum... |

GSP - Green star polyp
DSB - deep sand bed HOB - hang on back LR - live rock FOWLR - fish only with live rock GHA - green hair algae These are some that really tripped me up when i started.

Thanks Tswifty8 that list clears up some of the acronymes but there are so many more not on the list...
I just saw... TLF reactor? HTH? PITA? Pain in the a**--got that one JME-just my experience? MHO-My humble opinion? ATO-automatic top off Some of this stuff is like texting shorthand I guess...I have seen rotfl and lmao... I have figured out most of the acronyms on the forum-i think-but this hobby definately has a language of its own.

Pour Bleach In Tank And Walk Away
- I've seen it used a few different ways, but I believe it started regarding Caulerpa in California. Also Reefcast is involved somehow...
