large white spot on goby
I'm cross posting this to get a bit more exposure...
I just noticed this during today's feeding. After much web research, I'm thinking Lymphocystis? Thoughts? If it is, I know there is no treatment, just gotta wait it out and try to boost the immune system. The goby seems ok otherwise. Breathing seems normal. He is eating. The rest of his 'skin' and fins are good. All other fish in the tank are perfect (or so they act). My first thought was ich, but the spot is much to big and there are not enough of them. I'm just looking for any confirmation or perhaps some suggestions as to what I can do. http://thehassman.com/pictures.aspx...0.jpg&Width=640 http://thehassman.com/pictures.aspx...1.jpg&Width=640 http://thehassman.com/pictures.aspx...2.jpg&Width=640 http://thehassman.com/pictures.aspx...3.jpg&Width=640 http://thehassman.com/pictures.aspx...4.jpg&Width=640 Thanks in advance!

Well, the pics don't show but Lymphocystis is a viral infection, and just like in humans, viruses are hard to treat. In many cases the fish fights it off and all is well. There are some treatments reported, such as Acriflavine, but I have no idea if that works. Usually an antiseptic, like Acriflavine, must be applied tropically for it to work and I can't tell you if it is effective,

My bad on the pics... That's what cutting and pasting will get you.
