Does temp affect algae or cyano?

Does anyone know if running your tank at 80 vs. 73 has any effect on nuisance algae or cyanobacteria?

i forget where i read it but i did read that if you keep your tank cooler that helps with algae blooms.. along with lighting, feeding habits, water, flow of water..

i have also heard that if your temps are too high you will get more algea blooms then you would if you kept your tank in the cooler range. but eveything is going to have an effect on algea blooms, so just changing the tempature may work sometimes. but is not a cure all thing.

my tanks are at about 72-74 and some times they go up to 76-78 during the summer.

Well, higher temps increase the growth of everything. They do not especially favor algae.

Also, FWIW, 80 is actually on the cold side for reef organisms and 73 is extremely cold. That's well below the average low temp for reefs worldwide.

Current Tank Info: tore them down to move and haven't had the time or money to set them back up

As greenbean points out, lower temps will result in slower growth, so it will affect it that way. BUT, it does nothing to prevent it from growing, so if you still have a nutrient issue (the reason behind every algae problem), it will continue.
