GFO and Carbon Reactor-Need advice

Hi All - I 'm looking at getting a GFO and Carbon Reator wanted some advice. I found one online:
http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/Carbon...duct_info.html

Is this a good one?
Are there others out there that anyone has used that's better?
This is a new addtion to my filteration for me and I'm looking for people's opinions and experiences.

Thanks!
BDR

I use a single next reef MR1 reactor. It is large enough to house carbon and GFO in one unit.

The site I bought from I can no longer recommend. But here is a link to the manufacturers website. Everything about it is top quality / top notch and again it is quite large. Another option for you is to go dual smaller reactors like the TLF phosban 150 reactor. They are decent cheap units.

I have the standard MR1.

So the one you use, you can put carbon and GFO in it?
Do you stack the stuff in the chamber?
Thanks for your help!

I have it on two levels, Carbon first and GFO second. Here is the only pic I have right now, Will try to get a better one soon to show how it is divided "very simply to do, just use the dividers that come with it"

Fellow car nut.............Not to be too critical, yes a clean looking setup, but ( I guess there is always a butt) how do u control the amount of water that reaches the sump during a power failure?? and secondly does that Jager heater really control temperature with the sump water level so low, u know, way below the recommended water level etched on the heater ???

bderos,

I have the dual unit. It really is a great unit. I have owned the kent one with the lock top, It is by far the worst, I have also owned the TLF 150's which are nice little reactors also. BUt i just like this one and how i can also mount it to the inside of my stand

If you plan on using an in-sump GFO & GAC reactor, it’s hard to beat the MRC FMC-415 (http://www.myreefcreations.com/produ...roducts_id=287). Notice that the connectors point downwards. This makes it easy to attach a pump and directs the outflow downwards.

I fill the reactor with about 5 inches of GAC, an inch of GFO, and separate them with a sponge pad. I use a 79-gph Ehiem 1046 pump which is quiet and has the right flow.
