sunlight are good products, they are the ones that make bluewave MH ballasts and the reef optix and lumenmax MH pendants.

those are from their horticulture line I believe, I think it has to be hung fwiw, no legs, and if you get one with bulbs its likely to have 5500k bulbs meant for plants. so it depends on your needs and where you buy it from.

I'm pretty sure Hagen did this years ago before T5 lighting was popular for reef aquariums. The Hagen Life Glo lamp had an internal reflector. The problem was that the price was quite a bit higher than a typical T5 and most freshwater hobbyists didn't see the point in paying so much for a fluorescent lamp. I don't believe they were T5 "HO" lamps though. But even if they weren't HO, I'm sure if the internal reflector was sufficient compared to an external reflector you could have crammed a whole whack of them into a very small space.

anyone have updates on their fishneedit fixture...has anyone got any growth out of their lights? Mine look nice and nothing is shrinking...but then again nothing is growing. I'm kind of bummed and hope that a better ATI fixture will produce growth in my new tank...

so anyone else got any updates?

dave

I've had a 24" 4 bulb over my 20 gallon tank for about a month. It's fine for what I paid for it. The bulbs aren't great -- strange colors (greenish?), and I have a fair amount of algae on the glass, but that's not really much different than usual
