Limiting flow rate
Hi all,
I have a 2" drain pipe from an internal overflow box and I want to limit that flow to 150 GPH, any way to do that? The reason being is I don't want to blow away everything in my fuge, which currently does not have any dividers. Thanks! |

Put a break in the drain with a new line to the fuge and a valve to control the flow? Have the fuge and the intake/skimmer drain into the middle?

Thanks Jason.
I'm actually not going to use a skimmer in this tank. And the plumbing I was planning is very simple: Main tank -> fuge -> external pump -> main tank. Would adding a valve to the main tank drain work? Or would that be a noise-racket waiting to happen? Thanks again jason

You control the rate with the return pump. The overflow and standpipe will only flow what the return pumps, get a pump slightly larger than you think you will need at whatever head you have and install a valve on the discharge side to control flow.
Never try to restrict the overflow or you risk a flood. |

Thank you A.J., that does make a lot more sense.
