Whats the general rule of thumb as far as # per gallon of live in a reef tank.

I have always heard 1lb/gal. But that is a generality...you can do a LOT more or a lot less depending on the type(s) of filtration, bioload and other variables.

I have a 58g tank with a 20g sump. I have 75lbs of rock in the display and 10 or 15 in the fuge.
I could fit a lot more rock in the display, but I like the more open look.

Thanksfor the reply. I know there are lots of variables I was just wondering a general rule of thumb. Its hard for me to know just how much I have b/c I have been adding it over so many years.
