powerhead placement help

I have a 25 gallon tank that I just set up. I have a can filter and have the outlet on the left back pointing across the think. (it is like a little hook the water comes out)

I have the inflow on the back right of the tank.

I just bought a powehead (aquaclear 402) good for 20-50 gallons.

Right now I have it about half way down the tank on the right glass shooting across the tank.

IT is SO UGLY. Can I put it back behind my rocks in the back right, near the inflow?

I'm not sure where the best place to put it is?

thanks.

yes - powerheads are ugly. sadly, there is not an easy way around that. what you have to do is position them so that the flow in the tank is as chaotic as possible. NO deadspots is what you are striving for. On the bright side - it will eventually get covered in coraline growth and blend in better.

Also - you may want to reconsider the cannister filter - although they can and do work, without frequent cleaning they become nitrate traps. IMO they are best used (if at all) as carbon reactors, or maybe as biological filters - take out all the floss and fill with rubble rock. You still have to claen them, but at least they are doing something good!

hmm. the idea was that I just wanted to convert the system i had (Freshwater) to a saltwater without buying a bunch of new "stuff"

I have nice lights, good filter, etc - so I was hoping to just do something simple....

can i use the can filter?
