Needle Wheel destroying phytoplankton?

I have been in the market for a great skimmer to replace my sensitive AquaC EV180 on my 125Gal SPS tank. IN my research I ran across this interesting tidbit in Zeovit's usage guide:
Quote:
We would like to point out that it is our thought that needle wheels may precipitate certain elements and destroy plankton.
This being said has anyone found any truth or proof of concept on this? It seems logical to think that water forced over a surface designed to "rip apart" the water would take down some microorganisms with it.

Thoughts?

I suppose it could be a thought but there is no proof of this that I know of. Sounds like something a protein skimmer manufacturer would say that doesn't use needlewheels as a marketing gimmick more than anything.

If you look at the pods that make it out of my refugium, past my skimmer and through my return pump, they are pretty tough.

fyi, zooplankton are animals like pods. phyto is plants

BINGO it is advertising Jargon invented by a company trying to sell their skimmer as "natural"

i have seen tanks with needlewheel skimmers cloud up at night with plankton....
