The pic is hard to see. It may be cyano but the pic is to fuzzy to tell.

Not bad but a pesky algae (bacteria) the can take over a tank in fairly short order. If we could see it then we might tell but the attached photo no worky.
Look up cyanobacteria for details.

It is terrible, i have been battling cyano for months. Taken over the tank and I cant get rid of it. (havent tried chemicals yet, aint no chemical treatments in the ocean!)
It will grow, spread, and carpet over everything in your tank! GRRRR... CYANO. |

This sounds like a problem I had a month or two after setting up my tank. I talked to a guy at the local saltwater fish store and he told me to just keep it agitated. Keep stirring it up and when it moves, knock it off anything that it grows on, and it will go away after a week or two. Mine didn't look like worms however it worked for me, might want to try it.

Sounds like flatworms. Another pest (in my tank). Watch out, they do feed on soft corals, I lost a beautiful neon green leather to them not knowing what they were.
There are a few remedies-chemical which I always prefer not to use, and natural which hasnt proven too effective as of yet. Chemical; Flatworm exit will get rid of them... Problem is when flatworms die they excrete a toxin which can cause a whole crash in your tank! Natural; Some types of nudibranches are known to "vaccuum up" all flatworms. Trouble is they eat the large mass, and die of starvation. Shortly thereafter the remaining few will multiply and your back to square one. A few dragonets will eat them, also a six line wrasse (if it fits into your plan) I bought a spotted mandarin and cant complain, he prefers frozen food to the pods and flatworms in the tank. If you have a reef society in your area, you may be able to "borrow" a nudibranch, and use flatworm exit for the remainder! |
